Lipid Analysis of Manduca Sexta Midgut

Procedures: Day 2

1. Remove the vials from the freezer and evaporate off petroleum ether under N₂.
2. Suspend methylated fatty acids in isooctane [Sample 1(L&T: 200microliter) Sample 2(J&K: 500microliter), which is the carrier solvent for the the gas chromatograph.
3. Inject 1 mL of each sample in the gas chromatograph (HP 5890).
4. Assess lipid composition by comparing to retention times of known methylated fatty acids.
