Americans are fascinated with slavery.  We have long wished to understand how our nation, a nation that promotes equality, freedom and justice could have such a dark period in our history.  Slavery developed differently in the United States compared to other places in the world.  People are curious why it developed differently in the north than the south and want to understand what it was really like living as a slave. To help you and your fellow students better understand these issues, you will be exploring the topic of slavery in the United States from various perspectives.  &lt;BR&gt;
